In addition to King Charles III, the image includes the likes of King Camilla, his heir and Prince William of Wales, and Kate Middleton, who now holds the title of Princess of Wales after previously holding the title of Duchess of Cambridge.
The four were dressed in black to mourn the late queen.
The photo was not released immediately after it was taken, but the royal palace waited 12 days to release it.
He described the reception at the time as the first official event for the new monarch and the largest gathering of world leaders and global political figures hosted by Buckingham Palace.
Among them, US President Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron, his French counterpart and about 500 international personalities gathered in the main hall of the palace.
The photo underscores the Prince and Princess of Wales’ support for the King and his wife in the weeks following Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
