Spain: Rubiales will be tried for non-consensual kisses and has 24 hours to pay bail of 65 thousand euros

Luis Rubiales will be tried for the non-consensual kiss with Hermoso and must pay bail of 65 thousand euros for the crime of sexual assault. The trial does not yet have a start date.

This Wednesday, the National Court (or National Court) sent Luis Rubiales, former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), to trial for the crimes of sexual assault and coercion for the non-consensual kiss with Jenni Hermoso, after Spain will win the Women’s World Championship in August.

Luis Rubiales denies in court that he received money “irregularly”

According to Marca, judge Francisco de Jorge decided to judge Rubiales along with Albert Luque (former sports director of the men’s team), Jorge Vilda (former women’s team) and Rubén River (marketing manager of the RFEF). The decision came after nearly eight months of investigation.

The four defendants will be tried in the Central Criminal Court of the National Court, in a trial that does not yet have a date. Rubiales faces a request from the Spanish Prosecutor’s Office for a sentence of two and a half years in prison, one more than the rest of the defendants.

In addition, Rubiales will have 24 hours to pay a bail of 65,000 euros, which will allow him to face any civil responsibilities that may correspond to him for the crime of sexual assault, adds Euronews. For the crime of coercion, the former president of the RFEF will also have to pay bail. However, in this case the payment of 65 thousand euros will be shared between the four defendants.
