Angolan economic climate indicator improved in the first quarter of the year

Angola recorded an increase of three points compared to the last three months of 2023 in the Economic Climate Indicator, with an improvement in business confidence.

The improvement in confidence, essentially among entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry, influenced the increase of 11 points in the Angolan Economic Climate Indicator in the first quarter of this year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The data are cited in an analysis by Banco Millenium Atlântico, based on the Brief Information Sheet on the Economic Situation of Companies, in which the National Institute of Statistics reveals that the aforementioned indicator registered an increase of three points compared to the last three months of 2023.

The study indicates that the manufacturing sector went from four points in the fourth quarter of 2023 to 13 points in the first three months of the current year.

The transportation sectors also went from 10 points to 24, commerce from 12 to 16 points and tourism from 14.7 to 16.4 points.

The INE publication, which illustrates the situation of seven sectors, also subjected the extractive industry, construction and communication to investigation.
