Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for permission from his partners to attack airfields that Russia uses to bomb Ukrainian territory.

“We urgently need permission from our partners to attack the airfields from which aircraft carriers and guided air missiles take off.”That is why we count on the unity of our allies on this issue,” Zelensky said.

“On the eve of the Ramstein contact group meeting [Grupo de Ajuda à Defesa da Ucrânia], We discussed defense cooperationthe preparation of a new military aid package by France and the possibility of joint production of certain types of weapons,” he added.

Macron, in turn, offered his condolences for the “indiscriminate” attack on Poltava, which left 55 dead and more than 300 injured, and reiterated his support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.

Finally, Zelensky congratulated the French president on the appointment of former minister and former European Commissioner Michel Barnier, a member of the conservative political family, as the new prime minister, after a succession of rounds of consultations marked by a lack of consensus.
