“The Russian armed forces could carry out a direct attack on NATO by the end of the decade.” The warning came from the head of the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Bruno Kahl, who predicts that the Tension between the West and Russia will continue in the coming years – and is likely to intensify.

Quoted by Tagesschau state television, Bruno Kahl warned, in a parliamentary committee, that “the Kremlin sees the West, and therefore Germany, as an enemy,” recalling that Moscow has criticized the military and financial support that Berlin and its allies have been granted to Ukraine. Therefore, it is not surprising that Russian President Vladimir Putin “testing the red lines of the West” in the near future.

Germany is, according to the person responsible for German secrets, in a “direct confrontation with Russia.” Bruno Kahl also highlighted that Vladimir Putin is not only focused on the Ukraine conflict. The Russian President’s ambition is greater – and consists of “creation of a new world order”.

To achieve this goal, Russia is already preparing ground within German territory. Bruno Kahl denounced that the Russian secret services are strengthening their presence in Germany and acting without “any scruples.” “A worsening of the situation is anything but unlikely,” warned the secret leader.

“We are observing aggressive actions by the Russian intelligence services”confirmed the president of the Cabinet for the Protection of the German Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, who was also present at the parliamentary committee this Monday. The official stressed that “Russian espionage and sabotage are increasing in Germany, both in quantity and quality.”

In the same sense, the president of the office of the military counterintelligence service, Martina Rosenberg, highlighted in the parliamentary committee that the number of attempted Russian attacks against German “critical infrastructure” is already “worrying” and requires greater vigilance. The main target is the German Parliament.
