The deadline for taxpayers to file with the IRS ends this Sunday

The deadline for taxpayers to file the IRS return relating to their 2023 income ends this Sunday, and for those who have the automatic IRS and have not yet ‘validated’ it, it is considered delivered as of this date.

Statistical data from the Finance Portal show that, by the end of this week, almost six million declarations (5,974,980) had been submitted by 3,728,483 people who last year only had income from employment and dependent pensions and 2,246,497 taxpayers with other income categories.

The IRS filing deadline is set for June 30, without advancing to the next business day when the deadline falls on a holiday or weekend, as is the case with some reporting obligations for other taxes.

This date is relevant for those who are not covered by the automatic IRS, in which case the taxpayer must complete and submit their return through the Finance Portal.

Those who benefit from automatic IRS will see their situation regularized even if they do not go to the portal to validate the declaration because it is considered to have been submitted on the last day of the deadline.

According to current legislation, AT has until July 31 to settle the returns submitted – although most of them have already been settled – and the return must be made before August 31.

For those who have taxes to pay (because the withholdings they made in 2022 were not sufficient or because they have income that is not subject to withholding), the deadline to make this payment is also August 31.
