New GSe revealed. Here is the sportiest Grandland

Opel has presented the new member of the Grandland family, the GSe version that uses the same 300 hp engine that is already equipped with the most powerful plug-in hybrid versions of the Opel SUValthough the only Grandland PHEV currently on sale in Portugal is the 133 kW/225 PS front-wheel drive, which is offered for €47,220.

Combining the supercharged 1.6 petrol engine with an electric axle motor (110 PS/81.2 kW at the front and 113 PS/83 kW at the rear), the GSe version of the revamped German C-SUV pumps a total of 300 PS to the four wheels., with the capacity to travel a few kilometers in purely electric mode, a condition in which the maximum speed is limited to 135 km/h. Opel doesn’t mention range in zero-emissions mode, but don’t expect big deviations from the front-wheel drive PHEV. That is, it is practically certain that it will remain above 55 km until the 13.2 kWh accumulator is discharged.

Reconditioned Opel Grandland from €33,680 or €340/month

Honoring the initials it bears, this version seeks to stand out for its feeling sportier driving. The 0-100 km/h is still exceeded after 6.1 seconds and the maximum speed limited to 235 km/h, as is the case with the Grandland PHEV 4×4 that is available in other markets, but the Grandland GSe wants to differentiate itself by performance. Reason why, Like the well-known GSe versions of the Astra, it opts for a cocktail spiced up by the specific tuning of the steering and suspension, as well as firmer springs and exclusive shock absorbers, with the so-called KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) that allows the damping to be varied according to prefer comfort or efficiency.

To this we must add an interior where what basically changes are the front seats, more sporty and ergonomic, as shown by the AGR certification, while on the outside the highlights are the 19-inch light alloy wheels, reminiscent of to the blanket concept. GSe, clad in Michelin e-Primacy 225/ 50 R19. The diffuser is also different and specific to this version, with the front hood shown in these early images effectively giving the Grandland GSe a more radical look, but it will be offered as an option. There are no prices yet, although it is very likely that they point to €55,000. It remains to wait for the official values, which should be known closer to the arrival on the market of this new version, scheduled for Portugal in March or April next year.
