Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Olga Stevanishina, who oversees Kyiv’s application for EU membership, said that she is 100% sure that all countries of the bloc will agree to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate member of the bloc.

She told the Associated Press that “a decision could be made as early as Thursday… the first day of a two-day EU leaders’ summit in Brussels.” Answering a question about her confidence in the admission of Ukraine as an EU candidate, she said: “The day before the summit, I can say that I am one hundred percent sure.”

Stevanyshina stressed that the countries that were skeptical about which Stevanychyna spoke about (the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark) about starting accession negotiations with Ukraine during the Russian military operation now support her. Last week, the executive power of the European Union supported Ukraine’s candidacy.
