Police sources cited by Agence France Presse (AFP) indicate that the incident, about which there is still very little information, occurred when the train was at the Ozoir-la-Ferrière station (in Seine-et-Marne).

The same police sources indicate that “several” people were involved in the confrontations, including minors.
According to Le Figaro, which also cites police sources, authorities are looking for several suspects.
A hypothesis admitted by the sources cited by the newspaper is that It could have been a fight between rival gangs from different cities.. A witness contacted by Le Figaro states that a group of about fifteen people arrived at the train platform and then boarded a carriage.
They would be armed with axes and knives. “Some were hanged, one of them had several fingers cut off. People started screaming and running away,” says the witness.
